Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30 - Come to me... learn of me and find rest for your souls

Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30

16 “But to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to one another, 17 ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.’ 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon’; 19 the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”

25 At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

"Come to me... learn of me and find rest for your souls"

The Church of St. Peter’s Primacy

Last Sunday Jesus encouraged us to share in His ministry and to form one body, characterized by integration and cooperation, in His name and inspired by His Spirit.

This Sunday we have an open invitation from Jesus Himself "who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" Hebrews 4:15-16.

He has experienced our human condition and knows how weak, tired, hungry, thirsty, anxious, tempted by many things, and exposed to different hostile streams of intellectual, political and social groups we can be. Because of His experience, He is merciful, and He is declared to be the judge on the last day. "He was given authority to judge because He is the Son of Man" John 5:27. He knows how we are made.

Who doesn't have weakness of body, mind, soul, health, finances and family life?

To whom do we go for healing and comfort, to be refreshed and to restart with more confidence, prudence, and vigilance?

He invites us to His clinic for free and without previous appointments!

As we know from the Scriptures, remember that the only powerful and merciful healer is Jesus, who is waiting for us. Turn to Him when He invites us to find rest for our souls.
