Acts 1:6-11
The main point of our remembrance of the day Jesus ascended is to be sure that we are with the Lord.
What would we like Him to do? What would He like us to do for Him and His kingdom?
In verse 6, the disciples were thinking of the national, political Messiah. They expected him to restore the kingdom to Israel through power and might. He responded by telling them to be obedient to the Holy Spirit and to care for God‘s kingdom, not addressing the political issues.
See how Jesus fulfilled His mission. We want to end our missions, which is different than fulfilling them.
Do we go with God’s Spirit or just with a spirit? Do we rely upon ourselves or does the Holy Spirit lead us?
Wait and pray to receive the Holy Spirit. Then go and do without fear and with courage!
